What's new in CalorieAI

We ship improvements constantly. Here's a look at recent updates to the app.

  1. August 24, 2026

    • Fixed
A cancelled or expired subscription now really goes back to the free plan. Until now the server only re-checked with Google after a payment-required error — which never happens while you still have free analyses left — and even then it only changed the status, leaving the plan showing as a paid one forever. The app now reconciles with Google Play on start-up (and when you open Settings or the paywall), and a subscription that is genuinely gone is reset to free.
    • Added
Google Play real-time notifications: cancellations, renewals, refunds and recovered payments are processed the moment Play reports them, instead of waiting for the app to check in.
    • Added
Clearer subscription status: a subscription you cancelled shows "not renewing" with the date access ends instead of "renews automatically", and a failed or paused payment says so rather than simply offering Pro again.
    • Fixed
An active subscription is no longer blocked by the app itself when its stored renewal date has passed: the server checks the real status with Google and is the one that decides, so a renewed subscription keeps working instead of locking you out of the very request that would have refreshed the date.
    • Fixed
A subscription is now picked up straight away: after a purchase or a restore the free-analyses counter is refreshed from your account, so the paywall no longer keeps appearing until you restart the app.
    • Fixed
Purchase verification no longer reports "subscription active" when the entitlement was not actually written; the server now confirms the update (and creates the row if it is missing) and otherwise reports the purchase as failed.
    • Added
Right after you take or pick a photo, CalTrack asks — optionally — what you are photographing (e.g. "a plate of chicken with rice and soy sauce"), so the AI no longer has to guess the dish and the calorie estimate gets more accurate. You can skip the question, or fill the same text in beforehand via the "Extra info" field on the photo screen. Photos analysed with a different description are analysed afresh instead of reusing an earlier result.
  2. August 17, 2026

    • Changed
New accounts now start with 10 free AI analyses (was 30).
  3. July 23, 2026

    • Fixed
Changing a meal's type no longer creates a duplicate after cloud sync.
    • Fixed
Importing the same backup twice no longer duplicates meals and favourites.
    • Fixed
Backup export now also works in the web version.
    • Changed
Cost details are no longer shown around AI analyses; free users instead see a friendly counter with how many free analyses remain (e.g. 27 of 30) right on the photo screen.
  4. July 22, 2026

    • Added
Account verwijderen: definitief je account en alle clouddata wissen via Instellingen (met dubbele bevestiging); lokale gegevens worden daarbij ook geleegd.
    • Changed
The barcode scanner is now full-screen with a target frame, flashlight and results in a bottom sheet; not-found products offer photo or manual entry as next step.
    • Changed
The analytics screen loads with subtle placeholders, shows your current weight with a quick "+ Weigh-in" button, and collapses older weigh-ins behind "All weigh-ins".

Product search now runs while you type and automatically retries when the food database briefly hiccups.
    • Changed
Recipe search also searches while you type; the meal-type picker when editing a meal now uses the same chips as everywhere else.
    • Changed
One consistent "Add to diary" sheet everywhere: meal chips with smart preselection, date picker, an optional save-as-favourite switch and a clear "Save · X kcal" button.

    • Changed
Deleting a meal, favourite or product now shows an "Undo" snackbar instead of being immediately permanent.
